On the last day before winter break, General John G. Pershing Elementary School hosted a winter carnival. There were games and treats in the gymnasium followed by ice-skating competition in the rink out behind the field house. Hercules the Lesser loved the event as much – if not more – than Christmas itself.
He sat up in the bleachers and watched the kids toss rings at pop bottles and fling bean bags at snowmen. He watched as the kids laughed and played – their face is bright red from candy apples.
Booger Wilson got his tongue stuck licking an ice sculpture of the Little Mermaid.
